What is the Adult ADHD Self Report Scale for DSM 5 (ASRS-5)?

The ASRS5 is a self report questionnaire designed to assess symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults. It consists of 6 questions related to symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity. The ASRS5 is an updated version of the ASRSv1.1

How are ASRS-5 scores interpreted?

  • A score of 14 and above suggests a presence of ADHD
  • A score below 14 suggests an absence of ADHD
  • The ASRS-5’s sensitivity is highly positive at 91.4%
  • It is important to note that the ASRS-5 is only a screening instrument to help with the assessment process and an accurate diagnosis of ADHD can only be made by a qualified specialist
