I’m Ben, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy to adults across the UK.
I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, low mood, relationships, grief, life changes and feeling stuck, but I have a particular interest in working with people who are neurodivergent or recognise ADHD and autistic traits in themselves. You don’t need to have a formal diagnosis.
My approach combines Person-Centred and Psychodynamic counselling, but in practice I try to keep therapy warm, straightforward and human. I don’t believe you should have to learn how to be a “good therapy client”, and I’m very comfortable explaining why we might be exploring something or sharing relevant psychoeducation when it is helpful.
Many of the people I work with have spent years feeling different, struggling with things that seem easier for other people, masking parts of themselves, or wondering why conventional advice doesn’t seem to work for them. Therapy can provide somewhere to understand those experiences without starting from the assumption that there is something wrong with you.
I’m particularly interested in helping people develop a better understanding of how their own mind works, reduce shame and self-criticism, and find ways of living that work for them rather than constantly trying to fit themselves into somebody else’s idea of “normal”.
I offer confidential 50-minute online sessions via Google Meet for adults aged 18+ throughout the UK.
