Biography
My role as Clinical Director involves driving our strategic and service development goals, maintaining high clinical standards across the service, recruiting clinicians that align with our vision and values and creating meaningful connections within the wider community with a shared goal of promoting mental wellbeing.
In my private practice, I mainly work with adults. I have a long-standing special interest in helping people who have experienced trauma. I also have a special interest and experience in mental health and psychological problems related to sports performance and I provide support to a number of professional sporting bodies in Scotland and internationally, working with their elite athletes who may be struggling with performance-related issues in their sport due to personal or professional issues.
In my clinical practice I like to draw on a range of evidence-based therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). I also use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). I am also a trained Mindfulness teacher and like to incorporate it into my therapeutic work where I feel that it would benefit my clients. Overall, I offer an integrative approach, adapting the way I work according to each individual client’s needs in order to provide a uniquely tailored service. No two individuals are the same and I believe that should be reflected within the therapeutic focus.
