Hello, I’m Renata -a Psychologist, Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapist, BPS Supervisor, and NeuroDirect-verified ADHD professional with over 20 years of clinical experience supporting adults and adolescents with neurodiversity and complex mental health difficulties.
My work is grounded in the belief that neurodivergent people do not need to become “more neurotypical” to heal or thrive , they need understanding, self-acceptance, and support that works with the way their mind and nervous system operate. I offer neurodiversity-affirming, holistic, relational, and trauma-informed therapy tailored to each individual’s unique needs.
Having worked within the NHS for over 15 years as a Psychology Lead in the NHS services, I have extensive experience supporting individuals with ADHD, autism, anxiety, trauma, emotional dysregulation, eating disorders, obsessive rumination, addiction, low self-esteem, and relational difficulties. I also offer ADHD assessments and CBT-informed support for ADHD and autism.
I am trained across a range of therapeutic approaches including CBT, CBT-ED, MANTRA, SSCM, CAT, The Rewind Therapy, DBT, psychodynamic therapies, and PTSD-focused approaches, allowing me to adapt therapy flexibly and compassionately.
In my work with ADHD clients, I am particularly influenced by Dr. Gabor Maté’s understanding that ADHD is not simply about attention difficulties, but is also shaped by emotional sensitivity, chronic stress, attachment experiences, and the impact of feeling misunderstood or overwhelmed. My approach focuses on helping clients understand themselves more compassionately, regulate emotions more effectively, and move away from shame and burnout towards greater self-trust and resilience.
Having engaged in extensive personal therapy myself, I deeply understand how vulnerable entering therapy can feel. My aim is to create a safe, validating space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and empowered to heal and reconnect with who they are.
My personalised ADHD diagnostic assessment is an individualised, collaborative process that explores how your ADHD traits uniquely affect your life, rather than relying only on symptom checklists. It considers your developmental history, daily functioning, emotional wellbeing, strengths, coping strategies, masking, and the impact of different environments.
The assessment looks at:
• attention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, and executive functioning
• childhood patterns and developmental history
• education, work, relationships, and emotional regulation
• masking and compensatory strategies, especially in women and high-achieving individuals
• co-occurring difficulties such as anxiety, trauma, autism, OCD, or learning differences
• personal strengths, interests, and areas of resilience
I recognise that ADHD presents differently in different people and I aim to build a full understanding of how your brain works, what challenges you experience, and what support or interventions may help you function and thrive. My assessment with you includes therefore:
• Strengths-based exploration
• Detailed developmental and personal history taking
• Exploration of current ADHD symptoms and daily functioning
• Assessment of executive functioning difficulties
• Exploration of emotional regulation and sensory experiences
• Identification of masking and compensatory strategies
• Exploration of education, work, relationships, and self-esteem impacts
• Screening for co-occurring difficulties (e.g. anxiety, autism, trauma, OCD, learning difficulties)
• Gathering collateral information where appropriate (parents, school reports, partner feedback)
• Use of standardised ADHD screening and assessment tools
• Exploration of coping patterns and behavioural strategies
• Consideration of cultural, gender, and neurodiversity factors
• Collaborative formulation of difficulties and strengths
• Psychoeducation about ADHD and neurodevelopment
• Tailored recommendations and support planning
• Discussion of treatment options and reasonable adjustments
