Hi, I’m Paul, a counsellor with a particular interest in neurodiversity, anxiety and helping people who feel they have spent too much of their lives trying to fit into expectations that were never designed for them.
My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, compassionate and strengths-based. I believe counselling should fit the individual, rather than expecting the individual to fit a rigid model of therapy.
I have lived experience of neurodiversity, alongside professional experience supporting young people and adults with autism and a range of neurodivergent needs. This gives me both personal and professional insight into experiences such as masking, burnout, sensory overwhelm, anxiety, low confidence and feeling different or misunderstood.
I hold a Postgraduate qualification in Counselling, along with a COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate, an Open Honors Degree in Science and an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. I am registered with COSCA and continue to undertake professional development to support my work, particularly around neurodiversity, inclusion and professional practice.
I work with people experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout and difficulties associated with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other neurodivergent experiences. We can explore what is happening in your life, develop practical ways of coping, build confidence and look at how you can create a life that works better for you.
Most importantly, I want counselling to be a place where you can be yourself without having to perform or pretend that everything is fine. We work collaboratively, at a pace that feels manageable, focusing on what matters to you and what you would like to change.
I offer online counselling nationwide and face-to-face sessions in North Lanarkshire.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out or simply want a better understanding of yourself, you’re welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation.
