I’m Joanne, founder of Lumira NI. I provide warm, practical and neurodiversity-informed educational support and ADHD coaching for children, young people and adults.
I have over 13 years’ experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Through this work, I have seen how difficulties with attention, organisation, confidence or learning can sometimes leave people feeling overwhelmed or unsure of their abilities, when often they simply haven’t yet found strategies that work for the way they think and learn.
I established Lumira NI to provide individualised support that looks beyond simply telling someone what they should do. Instead, I help people understand what may be getting in the way, recognise their strengths and develop practical, realistic strategies that they can use in learning and everyday life.
My approach is warm, encouraging and down-to-earth. I want the people I work with to feel comfortable being themselves, without judgement or unnecessary pressure. Support is personalised rather than one-size-fits-all and can focus on areas such as ADHD, organisation, study skills, memory strategies, confidence, resilience and self-regulation.
I also have lived experience of ADHD. This complements my professional experience and training and gives me a personal understanding of some of the everyday challenges that can accompany neurodivergence. I also recognise that no two people experience ADHD in exactly the same way, so support is always centred around the individual.
Lumira NI is an educational and wellbeing-led service. I do not provide diagnosis, therapy or subject tutoring, and my work is designed to complement rather than replace appropriate educational, clinical or therapeutic support.
