Hal Satterthwaite CBT Therapies Clinic
Biography
I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over a decade of experience providing evidence-based therapy to adults and couples.
My clinical work centres on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), drawing on Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Supportive Counselling, and Cognitive Behavioural Couples Therapy (CBCT) where appropriate. I believe therapy should feel safe, validating, and useful — combining psychological insight with concrete tools for everyday life.
Over the years I’ve worked with many people whose minds don’t always fit easily into the world’s boxes — individuals with ADHD, Autism Spectrum profiles, and mixed neurodevelopmental patterns who may also experience anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties. I use adapted CBT, informed by current research and clinical experience, to make therapy accessible and genuinely helpful for neurodivergent clients.
I am particularly experienced in supporting people with:
ADHD and Autism — including adults recently diagnosed or self-identifying
Anxiety and worry
Low mood and depression
Stress and burnout — both workplace and academic
Social anxiety
Relationship and communication problems
My practice, CBT Therapies Clinic, is based in the City of London (Token House Yard, EC2R) and also offers online therapy nationwide. Sessions are structured yet flexible, combining psychological understanding with behavioural change strategies. Together, we clarify what’s keeping difficulties going, and develop practical ways to shift unhelpful patterns while strengthening self-acceptance.
Before qualifying as a CBT Psychotherapist, I worked extensively across mental health, sexual health, and public health services — including roles as Specialist Nurse, Project Manager, and Occupational Therapy Case Manager. This background has given me a grounded appreciation of the many social and systemic pressures that can affect emotional wellbeing.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Distinction) from the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and am trained in Adapted CBT for clients with ADHD or ASD. My professional practice adheres to BABCP and UKCC ethical standards, and I maintain full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Outside the therapy room, I’m a keen sailor and walker — activities that keep me connected to balance, curiosity, and calm.
I bring that same steady, compassionate energy into my clinical work: a belief that therapy should be collaborative, empowering, and grounded in real life.
If you’re considering therapy and want to explore whether we might work well together, please feel free to get in touch. I offer an initial consultation to discuss what you’re looking for and how I can help.
